Susan Smead

How long have you lived in Northern California?

I lived in the bay area for roughly 40 years before moving to Chico, California in 2016.

What is your fondest childhood memory?

My fondest childhood memory is visiting my grandparents out on the farm.   It was a completely different way of living than I was accustomed to having lived in the city my whole life.

What subject(s) did you study at College?

I majored in business management and accounting. What was your first job? My first job was scooping ice cream at 15 years old.

Who has been the most influential person to you in your career?

I would have to say my mother.   She was a great example of what you can accomplish in business.

How has your career created value in your life?

My career has allowed me to work with many diverse people and to help them succeed in business.
What do you consider to be the most significant world event that has occurred during your lifetime? For me there have been many, it’s hard to narrow down one specific event.  I think watching women grow in the workplace has certainly been significant.

What is your most memorable travel experience?

I have been fortunate enough to have traveled throughout much of Europe and Japan.  There are so many memories attached to those trips, it’s hard to narrow it down to one.

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you?

Probably the fact that my husband and I have been married so long that neither of us can remember how we got engaged.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

The thing that I am most proud of are my children and grandchildren.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love traveling.  When not able to travel, I enjoy cooking and golf.

If you could possess one super-human power, what would it be?

The ability to bring happiness throughout the world.
