Project Description

Paul StanfieldSenior

How long have you lived in the bay area?

I spent half my life in Southern California (Go Dodgers & Lakers) and the other half in the Bay Area (Go Sharks & 49ers) before moving my wife and kids to Gig Harbor, Washington.

What is your fondest childhood memory?

Being outside.  Whether it be playing sports or camping with my scout troop; my childhood memories are full of activity and adventure.

What subject(s) did you study at College?

Political Theory & Legal Studies at UC Santa Cruz, Secondary Education at San Jose State University, and Accounting at Santa Clara University.

What was your first job?

Running the merry-go-round at my local mall. We only had three recorded songs on loop but at least we had easy access to the food court.

Who has been the most influential person to you in your career?

My wife. She started down this career path before me and while she took a break to have our son and homeschool both of our children, she has been a huge source of encouragement and inspiration throughout my own accounting career.

How has your career created value in your life?

It provides me endless opportunities to learn, problems to solve and people to meet.

What do you consider to be the most significant world event that has occurred during your lifetime?

It’s hard to consider anything more significant than 9/11 which happened the week before I started my freshman year of college but 2020 was been full of its own surprises.

What is your most memorable travel experience?

Though I taught modern European history for several years at the high school level, I didn’t actually get a chance to visit the continent until I decided to switch careers altogether. Nonetheless I fell in love with London, Paris, and the French countryside…..I’m very much looking forward to going back.

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you?

During undergrad I was a couple minutes late to a class, missed introductions and engaged in a deep conversation with the class guest because oddly enough no one else would speak up about our assigned reading: Women, Race & Class by Angela Davis. A friend caught up to me after class and explained to me that I had been conversing with THE Angela Davis for an hour…..without knowing it.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

My children Audrey & Elliott. I know my wife Krystal should get most of the credit but I’m incredibly proud who they are today and the people they’re becoming.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Hiking, biking, camping and geocaching in the Pacific Northwest with my family and, when given a chance to venture off on my own, I’m an avid fly fisherman and novice golfer.

If you could possess one super-human power, what would it be?

I wish I could freeze time or at least slow it down; get all of my work done, read every book, binge every show, see every site and, mostly importantly, keep my kids young.
