Project Description

Jessica Watson

How long have you lived in Pennsylvania?

I was born and raised on the east coast. I currently live in Pennsylvania, in the Pocono region at the base of the Appalachian mountains.

What is your fondest childhood memory?

I think my fondest childhood memories are when I would spend the summers at my grandparents with my cousins. I have 9 aunts and uncles so there were always people coming in and out of my grandparents’ house. They lived on a horse farm in NJ with plenty of woods to explore behind it, and my cousins and I would spend hours getting lost back there, playing in the creek and going on adventures.

What subject(s) did you study at College?

I have an associates degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor of Science, emphasis in Accounting.

What was your first job?

I got my first job when I was 15. I worked at Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, and I was the go to pretzel roller. We actually had a work event recently where I was able to put my pretzel rolling skills back into play!

Who has been the most influential person to you in your career?

I would say the most significant person in my career would have to be my mom. I started out my college education going down a legal path. When I realized that wasn’t the path for me, she helped steer me toward Accounting, since she is also an accountant. While I knew I would not follow her footsteps in tax accounting, I went down a cost and financial accounting path and have really enjoyed working with businesses in that aspect.

How has your career created value in your life?

My career has helped me succeed in achieving the personal life goals that I have laid out for myself. On top of that, it has also allowed me to help my friends and families build, plan out and grow their businesses. I really enjoy what I do.

What do you consider to be the most significant world event that has occurred during your lifetime?

The most significant world event that has occurred during my lifetime is COVID-19. The COVID-19 epidemic completely changed not only the business world, but personal lives as well.

What is your most memorable travel experience?

My most memorable travel experience would be getting lost while backpacking the mountains of Puerto Rico and then almost getting stuck there through the first few weeks of the pandemic. The airport was shutting down for 2 weeks and we missed our flight! Luckily, we were able to get on another flight back home.

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you?

I am one of the clumsiest people ever. I am always tripping, falling and knocking things over. Once I started a domino affect in Walmart from knocking over shelves in the middle of the aisle.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I would have to say I am most proud of my success. I am a single mom who had my son at a very young age. It hasn’t always been easy, but I have been able to succeed in my career, buy us a home and provide him a good life.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am an artist! I usually am in my garage painting or in my garden playing with my herbs and plants. I love to make different herbal remedies too.

If you could possess one super-human power, what would it be?

If I could have one superpower it would be the ability to fly. I want to be able to go anywhere in the world I want to by just jumping in the air and going. Plus seeing the world from a bird’s eye view gives you a whole different perspective!
